I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I did as long with gaining an extra thirty pounds due to eating everything in sight. Lets just say my stretchy pants came in handy.
Today's sermon was one of those sermons that just hit right on the spot on things I have struggled with or struggling with. A part of the sermon was that God ALWAYS hears our prayers no matter what. I know for me, I question this a lot. Is God even hearing me? This probably goes for you too even if you don't want to admit it.
In 1 John 5:14-15, John writes a letter to the people, Christians, and he says, " This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him." Our pastor emphasized on the word know hence why I underlined it for you. He talked about that being Christians and being followers of Christ we should KNOW that He is always listening. God does not want doubt within us. He does not want us to feel alone especially when it comes to the aspect of his children talking to him.
God, countless of times, reassures us that He is listening in the Word. Again in Jeremiah 29:12, He says," Then you will call on me and come to pray to me, and I will listen to you." Jeremiah wrote this letter to the surviving elders, priest, prophets, and the people of Nebuchadnezzar that had been exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon. Jeremiah received instructions from God for them, and through all of their pain and suffering, God wanted His people to know that He was STILL listening.
Therefore, in your times of need and your times of feeling like you are at a dead end, remember you are not talking to a wall. HE IS ALWAYS LISTENING!
XOXO
Joslyn
