Forgiving yourself inside and out...

Hey everyone, Allen again-

We were made imperfect morally and emotionally(by ourselves, not God), before we were imperfect physically. Adam and Eve sinned morally, and fell morally, not physically. Cain hated his brother before he physically killed him. Any man lusts after a woman before committing adultery or some other sexual sin. But why do we(very much including me) deny forgiving ourselves of moral sin, moral unrighteousness, and of periods of time where we feel as if we are the worst of sinners and worthy of only fire and hatred, when all the while we forgive the physical sin? We learn to get back up when we fall in our physical bodies, just as we do when we sin in a physical way...but with so many sins starting in the heart, why don’t we forgive ourselves? After all, what we look for so much out of ourselves is to make sure we get up one more time than how many we fall down. I believe, even though I am not one to speak due to how I fail with this topic, that it boils down to believing, trusting, and leaning on Jesus alone to purify you, no matter the sin or how long it lasts. I struggle greatly with this, and Joslyn knows it. It came for me after I began to feel like I failed her, and the sorrow and unforgiveness has been eating me alive. So I ask Jesus often to help me forgive myself like he has, and to lean on him with all I have to see the life that waits for me out of my prison cell of a mindset, which is unlocked by Jesus so I’m free to leave when I want to. I encourage you who struggle with not forgiving yourself to ask Jesus for the same things, and to never quit on him.
